Stewarding at the Maes Gwrydd – The Green Field, at the Eisteddfod.

Maes Gwyrdd is to be a 3 acre field within the main “Maes” of the National Eisteddfod, which attracts up to 160,000 visitors from all over Wales. We plan to offer a variety of events including interactive demonstrations of sustainable living, renewable energy and innovative eco-technologies as well as activities including music, storytelling and kids’ workshops.

Mae’r Maes yn hyfryd yn yr heulwen! The Maes Gwyrdd is being built, and looks beautiful in the sunshine! GALW OLAF AM WIRFODDOLWYR! Last call for volunteers. Bwyd, tocyn i mewn os yn fodlon gweithio ar y Maes Gwyrdd. Food and tickets in return for willingness to work as steward, in cafe etc. CROESO I DDYSGWYR. Welsh learners welcome. Please contact Nathan Williams nathan@maesg.org.uk 07551 498910

All volunteers will be welcome, though those stewarding / dealing with the public ought to have at least a little basic Welsh. There are other jobs however! We’ll have a crew meeting at 9 a.m. every morning to find work to do; watering gardens for eample is a useful role for a non-Cymraeg speaker!

We will be hosting a “conference in a field” with a dedicated talks and discussions marquee, the “e-Coleg” (from the Welsh word for ecology) where PowerPoint presentations will take their place alongside workshops and debates about a sustainable future for Wales. There will be opportunities for the companies that are involved with Maes Gwyrdd to host presentations and discussions. We are also offering advertising space in our events programme, which will potentially be seen by thousands of people, or the opportunity to sponsor the Maes Gwyrdd project or an area within it – please get in touch for further details of these options.

For stallholders, types of stands available are within a branded marquee, or you may wish to bring your own gazebo/marquee or exhibition trailer; further information about stands is on the website.

Having a tradestand in the Maes Gwyrdd  is a great opportunity for new and interesting “green” ideas to reach a large audience during the course of an 8 day festival (4th -11th August). To encourage small companies we are offering a minimum two day attendance, rather than the full 8 days usually expected by the Eisteddfod, and also the option of sharing a 6m x 3m stall in the marquee, both of which reduce the cost of attending.

We can also offer free camping in a newly created area especially for the tradestand exhibitors who are in the Maes Gwyrdd area. Closing date for applications:  1st June

You can pay the full amount with your application or wait for an invoice which will be sent out as soon as an application is received. The stands will be allocated by June 30th 2012 but only after full payment has been received. The relevant tickets will be sent to you in July. It is important that you read the guidelines, rules and regulations which can be found on the Maes Gwyrdd website.

From Nathan Williams – Maes Gwrydd organiser ‘This year will see the inauguration of the Maes Gwrydd (Green Field) at the National Eisteddfod, Llandow – 4th -11th August. It presents an opportunity for local people and groups with interests/businesses relating to arts and crafts, ecology, sustainability, horticulture, health and well-being to promote and showcase what they do. If you are able to add value to the Maes Gwrydd site – visually, through educational talks and demonstrations –  rates for stands may be more reasonable than you’d expect. It is also possible to attend for just part of the week.’

Contact Nathan Williams nathan@maesg.org.uk  if you would like to find out more about being at the Maes Gwrydd this year.
