We’re holding another forest gardening weekend at Coed Hills on this weekend coming, the 19th – 20th May, and are looking for volunteers to come and help us creating the garden whilst learning about the techniques and plants that we are using.
Our hopes for this weekend are to :
- Weed, improve edges and plant and seed the central garden spaces
- Progagate more plants from seeds and cuttings
- Dig and lay edges for an improved path network
- Plant up all of the module spaces with plants raised this year
- Inoculate logs and woodchip beds with various fungi species
Camping spaces are available for those who would like to stay for the Friday and Saturday night, and anyone from the local area is welcome to join us for any of the days.
Hot meals will be available for lunch and dinner at £4 per meal for food from our gardens and a selection of seasonal wild extras. Please feel free to bring packed lunches. Camping spaces will be provided for free on the Friday and Saturday nights. The work days will run from 10am – 5pm each day, with plenty of breaks.
The usual things apply; bring work boots and warm clothes that you don’t mind getting muddy. We’ll keep you filled up with tea, and there’ll be the opportunity to learn about the way the garden works and to find out more about the plants were growing and their uses.
These work days always attract a brilliant mix of interesting people from many places and backgrounds, and we hope there will be pleasant social time in the evenings (please feel free to bring an instrument for fire side sessions).
If you are interested in attending this or any other aspects of the forest garden please email us at coedforestgarden@gmail.com. There will be more forest gardening weekends planned throughout the coming months.
